If five days at sea and 400 nautical miles can be called a \u201clittle hop\u201d. It&#8217;s all relative (so they say).<\/p>\n<p>At this point in my wanderings, days at sea are just part of the general sailing routine. Not that I don&#8217;t enjoy routine, in fact I&#8217;m rather fond of it.<\/p>\n<p>There is comfort in the predictability of routine.<\/p>\n<p>Plus it&#8217;s easy to describe.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4523\" style=\"width: 846px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ifno.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/San-Andres-to-Honduras-.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4523\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4523\" alt=\"And this ladies and gents, is the route I took...\" src=\"http:\/\/ifno.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/San-Andres-to-Honduras-.jpg\" width=\"836\" height=\"618\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ifno.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/San-Andres-to-Honduras-.jpg 836w, http:\/\/ifno.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/San-Andres-to-Honduras--300x221.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ifno.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/San-Andres-to-Honduras--405x300.jpg 405w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 836px) 100vw, 836px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4523\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">And this ladies and gents, is the route I took&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To the point that I need not even go into detail but merely state that the latest passage to Honduras was a \u201croutine run\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Most sailors I know will agree that any extended solo passage that might be loosely termed \u201croutine\u201d, will be made up of several obligatory elements including at least one;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cetacean visitation,<\/li>\n<li>Avian visitation,<\/li>\n<li>Rare celestial observation,<\/li>\n<li>Close encounter with a commercial craft, (of the cargo kind)<\/li>\n<li>Fisherman\u2019s tall tale of \u201cthe one that did (or didn&#8217;t) get away\u201d to recount to landlubbers,<\/li>\n<li>Tantrum,<\/li>\n<li>Sundry gear failure with ad-hock work-around (later described as ingenious repair), due to general \u201cwear and tear\u201d on the boat. Also the cause of the aforementioned tantrum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And that&#8217;s it!<\/p>\n<p>For better or for worse, I&#8217;ve missed out on all the social drama of crewed passages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After ten days in San Andres, it was time to make the next little hop on my clockwise tour of the Caribbean.
